Hi,

Yes you may be wondering why you're getting this, if you want to continue getting camp info reply to this letter.if not , don't. you may not be coming to Burningman this year, but you may next year and may have in the past so your voice still counts.

So, You all have your tickets by now and know about you BRC plans, right?

Thought so.

These are my thoughts before you respond to my last question in the list.

Burningman is based on contributing to the event to make it what it is. I feel there is a core group that works hard for the event and that some of our campers need a little push to pitch in and help more. so,

1) everyone camping at contraptionists needs to contribute to both the camp and the main event in a physical manor. these can be in various maners, not limited to the following;

a) an art project for the camp or playa
b) a service for the public
c) assisting ( in a significant maner) with one of the above
d) everyone needs to help with main camp items set up and breakdown and cleanup during the week.

It doesn't need to be a huge thing. it can be a couple afternoons helping with the camp services (snowcones, smoothies, twister, Pulas pub )

But I don't think Contraptionists should just be a camp space for your tent when you come back from the party.

paying into camp funds are not concidered contributing to the above.

2) camp funds;

a) I think these should be like the tickets, where if you send them in now they're $10, if you wait till we have to send in the camp request (april -may?) it's $25 and if you wait till afterwards it's $50, and if you're a late guest it's $75 -$100. and you're asked to pay what you can above that.

one camp I looked at required $300 just for camp art and there was no input on what it was spent on by their queen.

It seems there are a core group that do a lot for the guests and I wouldn't want to increase the burden to that core group, but a camp fund could go far.

b)we should just send the checks to ( Bryan(?) or whoever wishes to be) the one who keeps track of dues if not he.

c) the poll ( that few people voted on) said to spend moneys on;

      1) Repair and replacement of camp items, ( repair not needed yet but will be needed soon)
      2) storage fees in garlock. ( have not used the storage this year)
      3) solar power (my favorite, maybe add another panel or three to our system and negate the need for a common generator that noboby wanted in the poll)
      4) porta potty ( a good one , but here to put it?)
      5) travel expences for camp items ( my gas bill is rediculus driving the tents there, but should I charge others for it cause I live so far away? I think would be better spent on general camp items for everyone)
      6) camp cups etc. ( something that the publics benifits from in the form of a suivineer from the camp and BRC that Capt Bob has been paying for and bringing in the past, and that I would like to see him get a nice camp budget for.)

3) so,

now that you're not sure you want to be part of this greedy demanding group;

please send me your plans.

a) what space do you need ?
1) tent space
2) vehicle space(S)
3) art space
4) service space
5) thoughts on above ideas
6) probable guests you might bring and their requirements

I understand you're not sure what you're up to yet , but if you can give me an idea it would help, then we can adjust the plans when you're more sure later

please give some thought and reply to me or better yet on the yahoo group site soon

please join our yahoo group (find link on front page contraptionists.com center panel) and make your voice heard there.
please check out camp map (link on top of front page) and make your ideas known.
